[MTK] Mediatek devices USB Driver Download

mtk driver download

MTK (MediaTek) Driver is a software bridge that allows your Windows operating system to communicate with devices running MediaTek processors. When your phone is powered off or stuck in a bootloop, the computer uses special ports (like VCOM or PreLoader ports) to transfer firmware files directly to the device's flash memory.

Key Uses:

  • Flashing Stock ROMs: Required for tools like SP Flash Tool, Miracle Box, and Miracle Eagle Eye.

  • Unbricking Devices: Helps recover phones stuck in a bootloop or dead state.

  • IMEI Repair & Servicing: Allows diagnostic and servicing tools to read device parameters.

  • FRP & Screen Lock Removal: Used by unlock tools to access MTK bootloader modes.

Prerequisites Before Installation

Before proceeding with the installation, make sure you have:

  1. A computer running Windows 7, 8, 10, or 11 (32-bit or 64-bit).

  2. A good quality, original USB data cable.

  3. Disabled Driver Signature Enforcement on Windows 10/11 (required for unsigned driver installation).

Step 1: Disable Driver Signature Enforcement (Windows 10/11)

Windows usually blocks drivers that lack a digital signature. To prevent installation errors:

  1. Hold down the Shift key on your keyboard and click Start > Power > Restart.

  2. Your PC will reboot into the Advanced Startup menu.

  3. Navigate to: Troubleshoot > Advanced Options > Startup Settings > Restart.

  4. Upon rebooting, press F7 or 7 on your keyboard to select "Disable driver signature enforcement."

Step 2: How to Install MTK VCOM Drivers Manually

  1. Download the MTK Driver Auto-Installer or MediaTek USB VCOM Driver package onto your PC and extract the ZIP file.

  2. Press Win + X on your keyboard and select Device Manager.

  3. Click on your computer name at the top of the list in Device Manager.

  4. Go to the top menu, click Action, and choose Add legacy hardware.

  5. Click Next, select Install the hardware that I manually select from a list (Advanced), and click Next.

  6. Select Show All Devices and click Next.

  7. Click Have Disk..., then click Browse.

  8. Locate your extracted driver folder, open the Win10 or Win11 folder (depending on your OS), and select the .inf file (e.g., cdc-acm.inf or vcom.inf).

  9. Select MTK Preloader VCOM Port from the list and click Next to finish the installation.

Step 3: Verify the Installation

To check if your driver is properly installed:

  1. Power off your MediaTek Android device completely.

  2. Open Device Manager on your PC and expand the Ports (COM & LPT) section.

  3. Connect your powered-off phone to the PC using a USB cable.

  4. You should briefly see MediaTek PreLoader USB VCOM Port appear under the Ports section without any yellow exclamation mark (!).

Troubleshooting Common MTK Driver Issues

  • Device Keeps Disconnecting: MediaTek Preloader ports naturally stay open for only 3–5 seconds when connected without active flashing software running. This is normal behavior.

  • Code 10 / Code 28 Error: Re-run the installation after ensuring Driver Signature Enforcement is completely disabled.

  • USB Device Not Recognized: Try switching to a USB 2.0 port instead of a USB 3.0 port, or use a different USB cable.
